It’s a little past 8:30 p.m. Eastern time in the U.S., and a large group of the students are playing card games that alternate between the extremes of B.S. and Go Fish. Dinner choices in this terminal at Dulles Airport are limited – Subway, Wendy’s, and a place called Moe’s, which is not the burrito Moe’s, but a grill and bar. Makemson and Hatcher ate at the faux Moe’s and are now sitting among the energetic students waiting for our 10 p.m. flight.
We will arrive around 10:15 a.m. London time, 5:15 a.m. back in the states. Our bus will take us to our hotel to drop our bags before heading out to the British Museum and other stops within walking distance. On this course, “walking distance” is a relative phrase, ranging from a few blocks to a few miles. The weather is predicted to be in the 50s with a small chance of rain – unseasonably warm and very un-Londonish for January.
